Irrefutable Proofs: Establishing that the Quran is the Word of Allah and Prophet Muhammad is His Messenger

Discover 11 irrefutable proofs that the Quran is the word of Allah and Prophet Muhammad is His Messenger, drawn from cosmic sciences and ancient prophecies

the Quran is the Word of Allah

Have you ever wondered about the truth of the Holy Quran and where this book, which changed the face of history, came from? Are there tangible proofs confirming that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is truly a messenger from Allah? In a world of increasing skepticism and diverse sources of knowledge, the search for certainty becomes essential.

This article embarks on a profound intellectual journey, exploring eleven conclusive pieces of evidence. Some are derived from the universe’s secrets, revealed by science only recently, while others stem from the prophecies in earlier scriptures, all proving that the Quran is the word of Allah Almighty and that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the seal of the prophets and messengers.

These proofs do not solely originate from within the Quran or Islam; they are rooted in established cosmic realities and universally recognized sacred historical texts, strengthening the conviction of believers and guiding seekers towards the truth.

First Evidence: The Universe’s Origin from Smoke – A Cosmic Truth Revealed by the Quran Centuries Ago

For a long time, belief systems and ancient philosophies held that the universe originated from water or other primordial elements. These theories, while reflecting the peak of human thought in their eras, remained far from the cosmic truth unveiled by the Holy Quran fourteen centuries ago. Allah says in Surah Fussilat: “Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke” (Fussilat: 11). This noble verse contains an astonishing scientific اشاره that modern science only reached in the 20th century.

No one in the time of the Quran’s revelation could have imagined that the origin of this universe was a gaseous substance resembling smoke. Astronomers and scientists long believed that space was a mere void, or a sea of water as some ancient civilizations conceived. Yet, the Quran affirmed that the origin of the heavens, planets, and stars was “smoke.” This Quranic description remarkably aligns with what modern cosmology has discovered, which describes the universe’s origin as a Big Bang followed by a massive expansion of a hot, dense cloud of cosmic gas and dust, akin to thick smoke.

This gaseous cloud, or what the Quran terms “smoke,” gradually condensed and gathered over time to form galaxies, stars, and planets. This congruence between the Quranic text and contemporary scientific fact is no mere coincidence; it is a definitive proof that the source of this Book is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, who is All-Knowing.

Second Evidence: The Construction of the Sky and the Fabric of the Universe – Quranic Miracles in Describing Space

Evidence for the Authenticity of Islam
Evidence for the Authenticity of Islam

Many perceive the sky as a vast void, a boundless expanse with no material substance. However, the Holy Quran presents a vastly different description, one in which the signs of scientific miraculousness become evident. Allah says: “And the heaven We constructed with strength” (Al-Dhariyat: 47). The word “constructed” (بَنَيْنَاهَا) indicates that the sky is not a void but a firmly built structure, possessing a framework and substance. This description would have contradicted all prevailing notions during the time of the Quran’s revelation, and for long periods thereafter.

What further confirms the miraculous nature of this verse is what modern scientific discoveries, particularly in astrophysics, have revealed. Research, specifically the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2017, demonstrated that space is not an absolute void but a spacetime fabric, woven together by time and space.

This fabric is affected by mass and energy, and gravitational waves propagate through it. The entire universe resembles a tightly woven fabric, possessing a coherent structure, rather than just empty space. This is precisely what the Holy Quran expresses with immense precision using the word “constructed.” The mere fact that the Quran referred to the “construction” of the sky centuries before modern science uncovered these complex realities is a radiant proof that its source is the Creator of the universe, and not human.

Third Evidence: The Expanding Universe – A Magnificent Quranic Precedence to Modern Physics

The theory of the expanding universe is one of the most significant theories in modern astrophysics, revolutionizing our understanding of the cosmos. However, this cosmic truth was unknown to anyone, not even great scientists like Albert Einstein, who initially believed the universe was static and non-expanding. He even insisted on this belief for a long time, later admitting that his insistence on a static universe was the greatest scientific mistake he had made in his life. But in 1929, astronomer Edwin Hubble discovered the reality of the expanding universe, and this discovery became a cornerstone of cosmology.

What is astonishing is that the Holy Quran alluded to this cosmic truth fourteen centuries before its scientific discovery. In the same verse mentioned earlier, Allah says: “And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are its expander” (Al-Dhariyat: 47). The phrase “We are its expander” (لَمُوسِعُونَ), using the present participle, emphasizes continuous expansion, which is precisely what modern science describes with the theory of cosmic expansion.

For a sacred text from the Arabian desert centuries ago to convey such a deep and complex scientific truth—a truth that the brightest minds only reached after immense advancements in observational tools and scientific thinking—is undeniable proof that the Quran is not human speech but a revelation from the Creator of this universe.

Fourth Evidence: The Phenomenon of “Morning Breathing” – A Precise Scientific Allusion in the Quran

The Holy Quran describes natural phenomena with profound eloquence, carrying scientific implications that have only recently been discovered. Among these phenomena is Allah’s saying: “And by the morning when it breathes” (At-Takwir: 18). This verse might initially appear to be a mere poetic metaphor for sunrise, but it carries a precise scientific meaning that goes beyond superficial description.

In the early hours of the morning, with the rising of the sun, its rays begin to warm the Earth’s surface. This heating affects the layers of air in contact with the ground, causing these layers to expand, warm up, and rise. These warm air masses ascend, and cooler air from the upper layers replaces them in a continuous movement that resembles the process of inhalation and exhalation.

The Earth in these moments acts like a “giant lung,” expelling the warm air in contact with it and receiving new air. This description of the “morning breathing” is an extremely accurate metaphorical expression for a complex thermodynamic and meteorological phenomenon whose details were only understood with the advancement of meteorology. The Quran’s reference to this phenomenon with the word “breathes” is further evidence that it could not have been authored by a human, but is the word of the Creator, who encompasses all things with knowledge.

Fifth Evidence: The Dimming of the Moon’s Light – A Scientific Miracle in the Moon’s Origin

Islam and Modern Science

Humanity has long been captivated by the beauty of the moon, this celestial body that illuminates our nights with its light. But was the moon always as we see it today? The Holy Quran offers a startling allusion to the moon’s origin and evolution, an allusion that aligns with the latest scientific discoveries. Allah says: “And We have made the night and day two signs, then We erased the sign of the night and made the sign of the day visible” (Al-Isra: 12). Interpreters have unanimously agreed that the “sign of the night” is the moon and the “sign of the day” is the sun. But what does “then We erased the sign of the night” mean?

This phrase suggests that the moon originally had its own light, which was then “erased” or diminished over time. This has been confirmed by NASA in a video titled “Evolution of the Moon,” which addresses this scientific issue. Geological and astronomical studies have indeed proven that the moon, in its early stages, was a molten mass, perhaps similar to the sun in its temperature and radiation.

Over millions of years, the moon cooled and its surface solidified, losing its intrinsic light to become merely a reflector of sunlight. The word “erased” (فمحونا) here signifies the removal or obscuring of inherent light, which perfectly corresponds to the moon’s evolutionary path as described by scientists. For the Quran to present this precise scientific fact, which required advanced astronomical and geological research to discover, is proof that it is a revelation from Allah, and could not have been composed by an illiterate man who lived fourteen centuries ago.

Sixth Evidence: Moses’ Prophecy of Muhammad (PBUH) – A Torahic Glad Tidings for the Seal of the Prophets

The proofs of Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) veracity are not limited to the scientific miracles in the Quran but extend to clear prophecies in earlier scriptures. Among the most prominent of these is what is stated in Deuteronomy, chapter 18, verse 18, where Allah (SWT) says to Moses (peace be upon him): “I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put My words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.”

This prophecy bears clear indications pointing to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Firstly, “a prophet from among their brothers”: the brothers of the Children of Israel are the Arabs, the descendants of Ishmael (peace be upon him), who was the brother of Isaac, the father of Jacob (Israel). And no prophet came from the descendants of Ishmael except Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Secondly, “like you”: likening the coming prophet to Moses. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) resembles Moses (peace be upon him) in many aspects; both brought a complete law, both led their people in migrations, both endured harm in the path of Allah, both were callers to monotheism, and both were rulers and leaders of their nations. Allah says in the Quran: “Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you, just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger” (Al-Muzzammil: 15), likening Prophet Muhammad to Moses in his message to Pharaoh.

Thirdly, “I will put My words in his mouth”: this is what happened with Prophet Muhammad, as the words of Allah (the Quran) were revealed to him, and he recited them to the people.

Deuteronomy 18:19 adds: “If anyone does not listen to My words that the prophet speaks in My name, I Myself will call him to account.” This text confirms that every person is obligated to follow this coming Prophet from the lineage of Ishmael. If Muhammad was not the intended one in this prophecy, then when will this prophecy be fulfilled? It is a testimony from their own scripture to the truth of his prophethood.

Seventh Evidence: Isaiah’s Prophecy about the Call to Prayer (Adhan) in Kedar’s Dwellings – An Allusion to the Hashemite Prophet

In the Book of Isaiah, chapter 42, there is another prophecy that clearly points to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his universal message. Allah says through Isaiah: “Here is My servant whom I uphold, My chosen one in whom I delight; I will put My Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations” (Isaiah 42:1). This chosen servant who will bring justice and guidance to the nations is undoubtedly the Seal of the Prophets.

The prophecy continues, providing a more detailed proof, referring to the spread of the call to prayer (Adhan) in Kedar’s dwellings: “Let the wilderness and its towns raise their voices; let the settlements where Kedar lives rejoice” (Isaiah 42:11). Kedar is the son of Ishmael (peace be upon him), the ancestor of Adnan, and thus the ancestor of Quraish, the tribe to which Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) belonged. Who is the Prophet who raised the sound of the Adhan (which is a call to monotheism and prayer) in the dwellings of Kedar (Mecca and Medina) other than Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)? The Adhan was not known to be raised in Mecca and Medina until the advent of Islam through him.

The prophecy further states: “Let the inhabitants of Sela sing for joy; let them shout from the mountaintops.” “Sela” is a well-known mountain in Medina, located about 500 meters from the Prophet’s Mosque, and it has been mentioned in authentic prophetic hadiths. This precise geographical identification of the place where the message would emerge and the voice of monotheism would be raised leaves no doubt that this prophecy refers to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who established his state in Medina and from whose mountains and mosques the Adhan resounded.

Eighth Evidence: Jacob’s Prophecy about Shiloh – A Prophet Who Removes Burdens and Shackles

Before his death, Prophet Jacob (peace be upon him) gave his sons a great testament recorded in Genesis, chapter 49, verse 10: “The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until Shiloh comes, and to him will be the obedience of the peoples.” This prophecy speaks of the continuation of legislative authority among the Children of Israel until a person named “Shiloh” arrives.

The word “Shiloh” in the original Hebrew means “remover of burdens” or “he who brings ease to people from their burdens.” This description perfectly applies to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his lenient message.

Islam came to alleviate the severe rulings imposed upon the Children of Israel due to their transgressions and to make religion easy for all people. The Holy Quran refers to this characteristic in Allah’s saying: “Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written with them in the Torah and the Gospel, who enjoins upon them what is right and forbids them what is wrong and makes lawful for them the good things and prohibits for them the evil things and relieves them of their burden and the shackles which were upon them” (Al-A’raf: 157). The Quran describes the Prophet as “removing their burdens and shackles,” which is the precise meaning of “Shiloh.”

As for the phrase “and to him will be the obedience of the peoples,” it confirms the universal nature of this Prophet’s message, and that nations of the Earth will submit to his community, and his call will spread across the East and West. This is precisely what happened with the Islamic nation, which conquered kingdoms and spread the message of monotheism in a short period.

Ninth Evidence: Haggai’s Prophecy about the “Desired One” of All Nations – Prophet Muhammad’s Name in Previous Scriptures

The prophetic glad tidings continue to appear in the scriptures of previous prophets, leading to the prophecy of Prophet Haggai (peace be upon him), which reveals a direct name for the awaited Prophet. In the Book of Haggai, chapter two, verse 7, Allah says: “I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come.”

The word “desired” (مُشْتَهَى) in the original Hebrew text means “praised” or “desired.” This perfectly corresponds to the name “Muhammad,” which means “highly praised and commended.” Many scholars have discussed this prophecy, indicating that the correct translation of this sentence is “and Muhammad of the nations will come” or “and the praised one of all nations will come.” And if we consider that “nations” in the Hebrew context can refer to “gentiles” or “illiterates,” the meaning becomes even clearer: “and Muhammad of the illiterates will come.” This is precisely how the Quran described Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): “Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written with them in the Torah and the Gospel” (Al-A’raf: 157). This explicit prophecy, whether by name or by a characteristic that matches his name, cannot be ignored as evidence of his prophethood’s truth.

Tenth Evidence: Daniel’s Prophecy about the Time of the Message – The Fall of Kingdoms and the Emergence of the Nation of Monotheism

The prophecy of Prophet Daniel (peace be upon him) is considered one of the most detailed and time-specific prophecies. In his vision, Daniel saw four successive kingdoms that would rule the Earth: the Babylonian Kingdom, then the Persian Kingdom, then the Kingdom of Alexander the Great (Greece), and then the Roman Kingdom. After these four kingdoms, “the saints of the Most High” would come, who would fight idolatry and restore monotheism to the Earth.

To ascertain the time of this nation’s emergence, the prophecy indicates that during the time of the fourth Roman kingdom, a person whose attributes and actions match those of Emperor Constantine the Great would appear. And three and a half centuries (350 years) after this emperor, the “Son of Man” (whom many interpret as Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) would appear, and his nation would rule the four kingdoms and restore monotheism to the Earth.

What historically transpired perfectly aligns with this prophecy. Emperor Constantine appeared, and the Roman Empire existed. Approximately three and a half centuries after Constantine’s rule (specifically in 610 CE, when the revelation began), Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emerged, and the Islamic nation arose, ruling the kingdoms of Babylon, Persia, and the Levant (the first three kingdoms), and extending into Roman territories. Moreover, Daniel prophesied that this nation would rule the kingdom of Constantine itself (Constantinople), which indeed happened centuries later.

The Book of Daniel states: “But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, forever and ever” (Daniel 7:18). This precision in identifying kingdoms, times, and events cannot be mere conjecture; it is a divine revelation proving the veracity of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Eleventh Evidence: The Holy Ka’bah and Isaiah’s Prophecy – The Qibla of Nations and the Path of Pilgrimage

The Holy Ka’bah in Mecca is the Qibla (direction of prayer) for Muslims and the focus of their prayers and pilgrimage. This great status of the ancient House was not a product of Islam alone; it had deep roots in earlier prophecies. In the Book of Isaiah, chapter 60, verses 1-7, there is an astonishing prophecy about this House and its future role:

Isaiah says: “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you” (Isaiah 60:1-2). These verses speak of a place upon which divine lights will shine in a time of darkness and misguidance. The prophecy then continues to describe the arrival of nations and abundance to this place: “The abundance of the sea will be turned to you, and the wealth of the nations will come to you” (Isaiah 60:5), which corresponds to Allah’s saying in the Quran about Mecca: “To which are brought the fruits of all things” (Al-Qasas: 57).

Then comes the clearest indication: “All Kedar’s flocks will be gathered to you, the rams of Nebaioth will serve you; they will be accepted as offerings on My altar, and I will adorn My glorious temple” (Isaiah 60:7). “Kedar” is the son of Ishmael and the ancestor of Quraish, as mentioned earlier. “Nebaioth” is also Ishmael’s eldest son. “Kedar’s flocks” and “Nebaioth’s rams” here are metaphors for the Arab tribes descended from Ishmael. These flocks gather for sacrifice and offerings only at the Sacred House in Mecca, during the Hajj season.

The verse thus predicts the gathering of Arab tribes at this holy place to offer sacrifices, which is what happens during Hajj every year. For the Book of Isaiah to specify this place with such precision, connecting it to Kedar and Nebaioth, and for this place to be the Qibla of the Muslim world and their pilgrimage destination, is conclusive proof that these prophecies could only point to Islam and its Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Additional Advice

For a deeper dive into these proofs and prophecies, I highly recommend reading the book “Muhammad in the Bible” by the former priest of Urmia, Abd Al-Ahad Dawud (Sheikh Dawud Abd Al-Ahad). I also recommend following the series “Fortifying the Muslim Mind,” which delves into these miracles and prophecies in greater detail. The pursuit of truth is a responsibility, and these proofs offer a clear window for all who seek certainty.

Conclusion: Truth Manifests for Those Who Seek It

After reviewing these eleven pieces of evidence, ranging from the scientific miracles in the Holy Quran to the prophetic glad tidings in previous divine scriptures, an unbiased observer can only stand before a brilliant truth: that the Quran is not human speech, and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was truly a messenger from Allah. These proofs are not mere conjectures; they are cosmic realities and historical prophecies that align with astonishing precision with what Islam brought.

The Quranic references to the universe’s origin from smoke, the construction and continuous expansion of the sky, the explanation of the “morning breathing” phenomenon, and the dimming of the moon’s light are all scientific facts that science only reached in modern times. Conversely, the prophecies mentioned in the Torah and the Gospel, speaking of a prophet coming from among the brothers of the Children of Israel, who would remove burdens, raise the call to prayer in Kedar’s lands, and spread monotheism worldwide after the fall of kingdoms, all apply unequivocally to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his Islamic message.

These proofs, collectively and individually, constitute irrefutable testimony to the truth of this religion. For those who seek truth, one piece of evidence may suffice for their conviction, and for those in heedlessness, millions of proofs may not persuade them, as Allah Almighty says: “And even if they see every sign, they will not believe in it” (Al-An’am: 25). We ask Allah to make us among those who listen to speech and follow the best of it, and to guide us to the path of truth and certainty.
